Kerry Smith- PhD Candidate; MPhil; B.Ed.; Grad Cert Flexible Learning. Kerry is an Approved
Provider of We Belong FDC Services. She is also a co-founder of We Belong Family and
Children’s Community Centre a not-for-profit organisation sponsored by We Belong FDC. She
recently retired as a Lecturer in Child and Family Studies at Griffith University in the School of
Human Services and Social Work and is currently an Adjunct Research Fellow. She has been
involved in a wide range of research and projects focussing on listening to the voice of the
child and critical reflection. She has presented the Circle of Change Revisited model (COCR)
an approach to deep critical reflection across Australia, which she assisted in the
development with colleagues from Griffith University. She is a member director on the
FDCAQ Board and is a passionate advocate for high quality education and care. Kerry has
over 40 years’ experience in the education and care sector from grass-roots teaching, to staff
management, consultancy and project management, presenter and writer.
