and Transport
YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament

Paige was the 2021 Youth Member for Jordan in the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament and was elected as the Youth Minister for the Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence, Housing Infrastructure and Transport. Her portfolio passed a Youth Bill criminalising coercive control and reforming current domestic violence legislation which will be considered by the Queensland Parliament.

While studying a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) with a minor in history at QUT and working as a legal secretary, Paige also works as a tutor and mentor at a weekly homework club at her old high school. She values the time she is able to spend listening to and advocating for young people across her roles.

Paige believes that children and young people have unique perspectives about issues affecting them and have the right for their voice to be heard. She is passionate about ensuring accountability of decision-makers to children and young people, especially about decisions that affect children the most.

Workshop title: Staying Play-full

Inspired by absurdist theatre, three local Youth Parliament members invite you to take part in their workshop. Paige, Elena and Shahzia are enthusiastic about encouraging adults to stay more play-full in their daily practices. Staying more Play-full as adults means we can better understand the importance of play for children AND most importantly, we can learn new ways to include children in design processes.
